A Stellar Journey

The Stellar Company is unique in the ACT.

Our quality, professionally produced and presented community arts
programs are founded in empathy, respect and the clear vision that
community arts bring life changing experiences.

Our work spans 19 years. Established in 2006 as the Australian Talented
Youth Project, we provided a multi-arts mentoring program for young
Australians in the areas of music, dance, visual arts, creative writing, film
and drama. Founded and directed by Jolanta Gallagher the program
fostered young people’s cultural leadership through artistic potential this
unique program was the first national, residential mentoring program for
young, emerging artists in Australia.

The artists were matched with leading figures in their field in an
intensive week-long residential mentoring program at the Australian
National University. The program was particularly impactful for
participants from remote and rural areas of Australia, who often
struggled to access a range of professional tutors.

Liz Lea acted as Artistic Director for 3 of ATYP’s national mentoring
programs before gifted the organisation and Jolanta retired.

The enforced lockdowns during the Pandemic enabled time to re-
envision the organisation. As a team we looked to the stars and in 2020

we relaunched as The Stellar Company.

The Stellar programs were founded in a time of quiet, reflection and
enforced stillness. They now spring forward and core funding investment
has brought forth a slew of innovative, business and arts opportunities for
the ACT and her artists. Liz Lea and a stellar team of dedicated professionals have made a profound impact on the ACT arts landscape. Stellar programs have become a shining a beacon in Australia’s arts capital.
